Thats exactly what the PS3 is in desperate need of - a game series that did very well on the PS2, coming to PS3 only, persuading people to buy one. Not out 'till 2009 though. :(
I imagine Gran Turismo 5, Final Fantasy XIII, and Metal Gear 4 will have a similar effect next year, the PS3 sales should really start take off. It'll never catch up with the Wii or 360 though.
As much as I agree with the "Noooooooooo"...I also wholeheartedly agree with Steves comment above.
The PS3 really does need something.
After the fun that the PS1 & the PS2 gave me, I don't wanna see the PS3 fail...even if I don't want one.
It would actually be nice for some decent games to come out on the PS3. And in essence some have. Skate et al have come out on the PS3 but there's no exclusivity that make people want to buy the console for a specific bunch of games. Plus £300+ is a damn hefty price to pay for one God of War game.
Microsoft has Halo and Nintendo has Mario. Sony has Snake but to be honest i couldn't get into any of them past the first game.
By this time next year, there will be a healthy group of top-notch PS3 exclusive games out, but Sony really should have had a bunch of 'em out already.
For now, Heavenly Sword & Motorstorm are very good, and Uncharted looks promising, but the PS3 is always gonna be playing catch-up, and the sooner those exclusives come the better of it'll be.
And Spiderman 3 (the movie) looks superb in Blu-Ray! :)
oh...word on the street says that Microsoft will be releasing an external Blu-Ray player for the 360, much like the HD-DVD one that's out already.
Just in case Sony are right and not pulling a Betamax mark II.
